How to book a taxi

Press the button to start booking

Tb Docs Fleets Plus Book 1 New PnTo start a booking, venue staff must press the on-screen “Book” button.
Depending on how the device has been configured by the transportation provider, the on-screen buttons may change. You can learn more about how Booking Modes work here.
Venue staff can be anyone who works inside a hotel, bar, restaurant or any other public business in which the device is placed and used to book taxis on behalf of guests.

Enter booking and guest details

Tb Docs Fleets Plus Book 2 New PnVenue staff must use the touchscreen to enter all the required and/or optional guest details that have been configured by the transportration provider.
When a “Passenger phone” is required, a guest’s actual phone number must be provided, otherwise they will not receive the text message with a link to track, manage and cancel the booking and a link to the terms & conditions.

Turn the device to face the guest

Tb Docs Fleets Plus Book 3 New PnVenue staff must now turn the device to face the guest. This allows them to read the booking details, price estimate and terms & conditions.The guest must press on the “I AGREE” button when they agree with the booking.
Only the guest must press on the “I AGREE” button.

Choose a payment method

Tb Docs Fleets Plus Book 4 New PnIf required, guests must choose a payment option to continue with the booking.
Depending on how the device has been configured by the transportration provider, different payment methods may be available.

The guest's booking is confirmed!

Tb Docs Fleets Plus Book 5 PnVenue staff must now hand the printed ticket to the guest. The ticket contains a QR code to the Mobile Booking Tracker, a booking reference, and other details.By scanning the QR code on the ticket or on the screen, the guest will be taken to the Mobile Booking Tracker where they can track, manage and cancel their taxi, find applicable terms & conditions and contact the transportation provider. In some cases, the guest will also receive an SMS with a link to the Mobile Booking Tracker.

How to track a booking

To track taxis, passengers can scan the QR code on the printed ticket that takes them to the Mobile Booking Tracker on their mobile phone. From this interface, passengers can track, manage and cancel their taxi, find application terms & conditions and contact the transportation provider. The taxi tracking QR code will also appear as soon as the booking is confirmed on-screen. Venue staff can track a booking on the device itself by clicking on an active or planned booking. See below for more information.

How to manage bookings

To manage a booking, venue staff can use the Active and Planned booking tabs at the top of the screen. From there, they can press on a specific booking to track the taxi on the map, print a ticket again, or cancel the booking.
The Planned tabs will only show when there is at least one Planned booking.
Active bookings can have different statuses like: “Driving to pickup”, “Arrived at pickup” and “Cancelled”. Planned bookings remain “Planned” until the trip is dispatched.

How Booking Modes work

Booking Modes provide venue staff with the flexibility to either make quick bookings or collect additional information during the booking process. The modes change automatically based on how the transportation provider has configured the device. Four booking modes are available based on the configuration:

Quick & Paid bookings”QUICK BOOKING” / “BOOK AND PAY”The device will give you two options to book a device, a quick booking or a custom booking with payment.

Quick booking only

When the only option is “QUICK BOOKING”, the device will book a taxi instantly and print a ticket, just like the Taxi Butler ONE.

Quick & Custom bookings

When venue staff press the “QUICK BOOKING” button, the device will only take them through the required fields. When venue staff press the “CUSTOM BOOKING” button, the device will take them through all the fields, with the option to skip non-required fields.

Full booking

When venue staff press the “BOOK TAXI NOW” button,the device will take them through the booking process with all the fields.

Quick & Paid bookings

When venue staff press the “QUICK BOOKING” button, the device will take them through only the required fields and default to the first non-PAY “Payment type” configured. When venue staff press the “BOOK AND PAY” button, the device will take them through all the fields, with the option to skip non-required fields, including the “Payment types” step.
For on-device payments to work with Taxi Butler PAY, both the destination and taxi type fields must be completed. This allows the device to estimate the correct fare amount for the booking.

How to power-on & off the device

To power on the device, press and hold the power button for 2-3 seconds when the device is OFF. To power off the device, press and hold the power button for 2-3 seconds when the device is ON.

Unlocking the screen

In some cases, the device’s screen may lock itself after a period of inactivity. To unlock it, simply enter the code “1234” when prompted to do so and press on the “checkmark” button on they keyboard.

How to connect the device to a Wi-Fi network

The Taxi Butler PLUS comes with a built-in SIM card. It’s highly recommended to use a local Wi-Fi network when possible. To connect the device to a Wi-Fi network, simply press on the Menu icon, then press on “Connect to Wi-Fi” at the bottom of the menu. You can select a network and enter the correct password to connect.

How to change the device language

To change the interface language, simply press on the Menu icon, then press on “Language” at the bottom of the menu. You can select a language from the list.

How to replace the thermal printer paper roll

  1. Lift up the printer cover using the edges on the sides of the device
  2. Remove the old roll if necessary. Put a new thermal paper roll (58mm width, ⌀40mm / 2 1/4” x 1 5/8”) in place and pull some paper outside the cutting area
  3. Close the printer cover and remove any excess paper

Safety precautions

  • Only charge the device using the correctly rated power
  • Do not use the device in presence of potentially explosive gas
  • Do not open the power adapter
  • Only use power adapters that support QC3.0, AFC, USB PD 3.0 protocols
  • Do not replace or dissamble the battery
  • Do not use the device during thunderstorms
  • Turn off the device if it is malfunctioning or behaving strangely
  • Be careful when handling the thermal paper rolls as the paper cutter is sharp
  • Do not use the device near water or moisture
  • Do not drop, throw or bend the device
  • Avoid using the device in dusty or dirty conditions
  • Do not use the device near medical equipment
  • Do not change, modify or tamper with the hardware or software of the device
  • Taxi Butler will not be held liable for damages caused by improper use or maintenance of the device
